Noelle’s Beginning
Five years ago, dog lovers and long-time special-needs dog rescuers, Cheri and Ward Wells of LoveyLoaves in Orlando, Florida, received a call that would change their lives. It was the day before Christmas Eve, and a family informed them about a litter of Chihuahua puppies with birth defects. Among them was Noelle, a tiny pup born without front legs. Her mother rejected her, and the family decided to surrender her to a shelter. Without hesitation, Cheri and Ward welcomed Noelle into their foster home.

“It’s much too early for her to be separated from mom, but the alternatives were not good. So we named our new Christmas angel Noelle and have been bottle feeding her around the clock and showering her with love,” wrote LoveyLoaves on Facebook.
From the very first day, Noelle required a lot of care. She needed to be bottle-fed with formula every few hours, and Cheri and Ward did their best to support her.

A few weeks after her arrival, Noelle began to experience trembling, vomiting, and shortness of breath. To prevent pneumonia, the couple used nebulizer treatments, but tests soon revealed that Noelle had a dairy intolerance. This discovery was a relief for Cheri and Ward, as it meant her condition was manageable. With the right diet, Noelle was ready to embrace her puppyhood with full potential.
Embracing Mobility

In the beginning, Noelle didn’t know how to move properly. She would inch and push around, and Cheri and Ward were unsure how she would get around. They decided to get her specially-designed wheels to help her move more naturally. Though it took some time for Noelle to adjust to her new wheels, she eventually embraced them as if she had always had them.
Soon, Noelle was running outside and enjoying her freedom with other dogs. It was an emotional sight to see her move almost without obstacles. One of her biggest milestones was learning to eat from an elevated food dish. Once a timid girl, Noelle gained the confidence she needed and soon became the boss of the house. She even started hopping back and forth on the bed, seeking cuddles from her parents.
