Suzette Hall, the founder of a California-based rescue organization called Logan’s Legacy 29, often gets calls about stray dogs wandering the streets of Southern California in search of a kind person to help them.
However, one day, she received a call that stood out from the rest.
Three Pups in Need
A Good Samaritan reached out to Hall to inform her about not one, but three sweet puppies they had found roaming around an abandoned property in Compton. The puppies were sticking together and refusing to leave each other’s side.

Help Is On The Way
As soon as Hall got the call, she knew this rescue mission would be a challenging one. Catching one scared puppy is difficult, but rescuing three at once is a whole new level of tough. Nonetheless, she was determined to come up with a plan because she knew she was their only hope.
“It was beyond heartbreaking to see. They are all so tiny,” Hall wrote on Facebook.
Unfortunately, Hall’s rescue mission was delayed for a couple of days because her rescue van had some mechanical issues. During this time, her friend, Mary Nakiso, stepped in to help. Every evening, Mary visited the pups and brought them nutritious food to keep them healthy and energized while they waited for their rescuer.

When Hall finally managed to get to the abandoned property, she was amazed by the loyalty the pups showed to each other.
“They were so scared, but they had each other. And boy, do they love each other,” Hall said.
Hall decided to keep her distance initially to avoid scaring the pups by getting too close too quickly. She spoke to them in a sweet and soothing tone, offering words of comfort to show them that they were in safe hands and had nothing to fear.
Gaining Trust
Hall managed to capture the smallest pup of the three rather quickly. Meanwhile, Nakiso worked on gaining the trust of the middle pup. It didn’t take long before both of the pups were safely in the van.
“The little girl loved Mary so much, and Mary was able to get her,” Hall wrote.
The smallest pup, named Oscar, and his sister, Jolene, were now safe in Hall’s van while the rescuers went back for their older brother, Ollie.
“The third baby boy was so beyond scared, he kept going into the garage,” she wrote.
Seeing that Ollie was still too scared to trust them, Hall and Nakiso decided it was best to give him some space to decompress while they took Oscar and Jolene to the Camino Pet Hospital in California.
A Second Try
Later that evening, Hall returned to the abandoned property to try capturing Ollie again. This time, she brought some backup. She set up a humane trap next to the garage where Ollie was hiding, hoping he would enter it on his own.
When Hall returned in the morning, she was overjoyed to find Ollie patiently sitting in the trap, waiting for her to come and get him. She immediately took him to the vet hospital, where he was reunited with his siblings.
“They were all so scared. So cold, so hungry. But they were finally all safe. They had each other again,” Hall wrote.
Safe and Sound
After a thorough checkup at the hospital, the triplets headed to their foster home. Hall’s friend, Genavie Ochoa, offered to take in all three pups so they wouldn’t be separated.
Even though Ollie still had trouble trusting humans, his siblings were quickly adapting to their new lives as house dogs. Their caretakers were confident that, with time, Ollie would also overcome his fears and fully embrace the bright future ahead of him.
“Ollie is so scared, but the other two are so sweet and love belly rubs. These poor babies went through so much,” Hall told The Dodo.
A Bright Future
Genavie Ochoa shared their journey on social media, expressing her determination to gain Ollie’s trust. “These sweet little babies went through so much. I’m trying so hard to make friends with Ollie. He just needs more time, and that’s okay,” she wrote.
I am confident that Ollie, Jolene, and Oscar will find loving forever homes where they can relax and live the lives they deserve. For now, the love and attention they receive from their foster home is helping them feel at ease.
“I’m sure they haven’t slept this well in a long time. They are rescued and have each other,” Hall concluded.
