Pony’s story began in 2014 when he was adopted from a shelter in New York City. Before his rescue, he had a tough life on the streets of Harlem, where he was found with burnt paws and weighing a mere 16 pounds. It is believed that Pony had escaped from an illegal fighting ring in a basement, where he was severely abused.
The moment Ruchi found him, Pony’s life took a turn for the better. Known for his boundless energy and signature zoomies, he quickly became the family’s center of attention and entertainment. But his role in the family was about to evolve in a way no one expected.

Ruchi shared with Power of Positivity how Pony took on the role of a vigilant guardian. “He watches over Amlan, protects him, and ensures his safety before indulging in his own playful antics,” she explained.

As Amlan grew, so did his bond with Pony. The two quickly became inseparable, developing a deep friendship that blossomed as Amlan started to walk. With a newfound walking buddy, Pony felt comfortable resuming his high-energy zoomies, this time with Amlan by his side.

Their partnership extended beyond mere play. They shared snacks, made messes during playtime, and developed their unique way of communicating. Pony’s favorite activity, however, involved traveling with Amlan and the family.
Adventures Beyond the Home
Since his adoption, Pony has always loved joining the family on hikes and road trips. Ruchi recalls how, just three months after adoption, they took Pony on a road trip to North Carolina where they explored the mountains. Since then, Pony has traveled to 49 states with the family, enjoying endless walks and the freedom of the great outdoors.

“With his love for adventure, it was natural for us to take him along on our trips,” Ruchi said. Now, with Amlan strong enough to join these excursions, Pony’s happiness seems boundless.
