Anyone who’s ever had a dog knows they’re sneaky little things. They sneak around, doing things they definitely shouldn’t be doing. Despite their cheeky behavior, they often behave, earning their status as “good boys” and “good girls.” Most of the time, their antics don’t cause any real trouble and usually end up as hilarious tales we tell over and over again.

In this delightful narrative, we’ll explore a creative way a certain company has chosen to commemorate the times when dogs have hilariously ruined their products.

The Infamous Wall of Shame

Picture this: a bustling workspace filled with people diligently working, and on the wall, a collection of photos not of employee achievements, but of dogs—yes, dogs. These aren’t ordinary photographs but a gallery of guilty faces caught in the act of puzzle destruction. This is the famed “Wall of Shame” at Liberty Puzzles, a Colorado-based company known for its intricately designed, laser-cut wooden puzzles.

Liberty Puzzles has been crafting these engaging puzzles for a long time, noticing a peculiar trend over the years. Many customers would purchase a beautiful puzzle, only to contact the company soon after requesting replacements for pieces that had mysteriously gone missing or been destroyed.

When asked about the cause of destruction, most customers blamed their dogs, who seemed to have a knack for puzzle tasting. Kamie Kennedy, a staff member at Liberty Puzzles, shared with The Dodo, “When we started getting these requests, we noticed a pattern—the culprits were almost always pets. In exchange for replacing the pieces, we started asking people to send us a photo of the mischievous culprit.”

The Birth of an Idea

The idea was simple yet brilliant. Why not create a “Wall of Shame” dedicated to these furry puzzle destroyers? Thus, every dog that ever chewed or broke a puzzle could have its moment of fame—or infamy—on this wall.

Surprisingly, the usual suspects on the wall were dogs, but they weren’t the only ones. The wall also featured other animals like rabbits, pigs, parrots, and even an occasional robot vacuum cleaner that went rogue on a puzzle piece.

Kennedy explained the process, “We get a good number of requests for replacement pieces. It seems we’re adding new faces to the Wall of Shame on a weekly basis.” It might sound like a hassle dealing with such frequent requests, but the folks at Liberty Puzzles didn’t see it that way.

The company found that many people actually enjoyed sharing photos of their pets caught in the act. It became a fun exchange between the company and the puzzle owners. “We probably add to the Wall of Shame weekly,” Kennedy noted, indicating the regularity with which new photos were added.

As time went by, the Wall of Shame grew impressively. It was no longer just a few scattered photos. The wall boasted dozens of pictures, each telling its own story of a playful or perhaps just bored pet finding its way into a bit of mischief.

Reflecting on this unique tribute, it’s clear that this isn’t just about documenting destruction. It’s a celebration of the quirky moments that pet owners share with their animals. It’s about the laughs and stories that come out of these incidents.

This wall, in a way, is a testament to the special bond between pets and their owners. It captures the light-hearted side of pet ownership—the unconditional love and the shared moments that, despite being a bit chaotic at times, bring joy and laughter.

More Than Just a Wall

What started as a simple solution to a puzzling problem has become a hallmark of Liberty Puzzles’ company culture. It’s a reminder that sometimes, you have to look at life’s little disruptions with a sense of humor. Whether it’s a dog, a parrot, or even a curious pig, every pet that has ever “ruined” a puzzle has, in fact, contributed to a much larger story of joy, community, and creativity.

The Wall of Shame at Liberty Puzzles isn’t just about the mishaps; it’s about celebrating the imperfect moments that make life with pets so enriching. It’s a wall filled with stories of laughter, shared experiences, and the occasional puzzle piece casualty.

In the grand tapestry of life with pets, these moments are the colorful threads that add warmth and vibrancy. They remind us that while our furry friends may not always be perfect, they always bring something special into our lives—be it a chewed-up puzzle or a heart full of joy.
