The rescue efforts were spearheaded by Dog Tales Rescue and Sanctuary, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving dogs like Hansel. They transferred him to Dogs Playing for Life in Florida, where he underwent comprehensive evaluation and training. While many of the rescued dogs found their forever homes, Hansel’s journey took a unique turn.

Hansel continued his training under the guidance of the Throw Away Dogs Project, an organization that turns rescued dogs into trained K9s. After a year of intensive training, Hansel moved to a specialized 16-week K9 academy at the Millville Fire Department in New Jersey.
