While driving down a Kentucky road, a kind-hearted driver noticed a small brown and white puppy alone by a tree. Heartbroken upon realizing she was tied up, they immediately called the Lewis County Animal Shelter for help.
The shelter’s team quickly responded, arriving at the scene to rescue the distressed Ladybird. They brought her to the safety of the shelter, where she would no longer have to wait alone.
Ladybird’s Shelter Experience
At the shelter, Ladybird was visibly scared and uncertain. It was clear that the noisy, crowded environment was no place for a fragile puppy like her. She needed a calm space and a gentle touch to feel secure.
A New Hope with Foster Care
Recognizing her need for a nurturing environment, Kim Desroches from Friends of Lewis County Animals, decided to intervene. After seeing Ladybird’s photo on the shelter’s social media, Kim was moved by her plight and spearheaded efforts to find her a foster home.

Ladybird’s foster home was everything she needed. Her foster mom showered her with affection, helping the once timid puppy to blossom into a joyful and playful companion. Love had chased away her fears, opening a new chapter of happiness in Ladybird’s life.
A Forever Home on the Horizon
After thriving in her foster home, Ladybird’s journey led her to the Licking County Humane Society in Ohio, where she awaited her chance for a permanent home. On January 27th, 2024, the society shared the heartwarming news of her pending adoption on their Facebook page.
