A Tale of Hope: Meter Maid’s Journey
One of the many success stories from APA! is about an abandoned pregnant dog named Meter Maid. Her owner cruelly kicked her out when she needed care the most. Despite the challenges and high costs, the dedicated employees of APA! did everything they could to bring joy back into Meter Maid’s life.
The Struggle for Survival
Meter Maid was found by animal control in an Austin neighborhood and brought to the city shelter. Due to her advanced pregnancy, the shelter called APA! for assistance. The team at APA! immediately took her in, doing their best to make her comfortable. Despite their efforts, Meter Maid was still very frightened, and her pregnancy was so advanced that she couldn’t walk.

The shelter staff faced a difficult situation, but they were determined not to give up on Meter Maid. Understanding the importance of fresh air and sunlight, they regularly took her outside in a wagon.
