Alicia was on her way home when she noticed an elderly man cycling with a trailer full of puppies. Initially, she drove past, but something about the scene made her stop and call her dad. They decided it might be risky to approach a stranger, but her curiosity and concern won out.

When Alicia went back to talk to the man, she discovered his name was Steve. He shared that he’d been living on the streets since 2001, dedicating his life to rescuing stray dogs. Alicia was so touched by his story that she decided to take action.
Community Comes Together
Once home, Alicia set up a fundraiser to support Steve’s mission, quickly raising a significant sum from the community. Inspired by the fundraiser, Kelly Seaton, who worked with an animal rescue group, offered to drive Steve and his dogs to Indiana.
A Journey Filled with Purpose
Kelly enjoyed the trip, knowing she was helping someone so committed to animal welfare. On arriving in Indiana, Steve and his canine companions settled into a motel room, safe and warm.
A New Chapter Begins
In Indiana, they met Angela, an animal welfare worker, who offered to help Steve with his dogs. Thanks to global donations, Steve was able to buy a trailer big enough for his new family.
Reflections on Generosity and Compassion
It’s heartening to see the extent some will go to help animals in need, and equally, the generosity of people supporting such causes. Thanks to this kindness, Steve can look forward to a happy life surrounded by his beloved dogs.
