Tabea’s Journey Begins
Among these hopeful souls was Tabea, a sweet yet homeless pup who desperately needed a helping hand. Malnourished and feeble, she roamed the streets of St. Louis, Missouri, in search of refuge. One day, driven by sheer hope, Tabea found her way to a family’s porch. She spotted a blanket there and curled up on it, trying to make herself as small and unobtrusive as possible.
A Kind Heart Reaches Out
It didn’t take long for a woman from the household to notice Tabea. The sight of the poor, dejected dog broke her heart. Moved by compassion, she contacted the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, informing them of Tabea’s dire situation.
Responding promptly, Donna Lochmann and her team packed into a rescue Jeep and headed to the address. Upon arrival, the rescue team was heartbroken to see the extent of Tabea’s poor condition. At the shelter, the staff enveloped Tabea in warmth and affection. Initially bewildered, Tabea soon began to grasp that she was in safe hands. The love and care she received began to mend her broken spirit. During a visit to the vet, it was discovered that Tabea had an ear infection and a broken tail that needed amputation. Despite these setbacks, the vet took exceptional care of her, helping her on her road to recovery.

As Tabea’s physical health improved, so did her emotional well-being. She transformed from a timid, reserved dog into a loving and trusting companion, thanks to the continuous support and affection from the shelter staff.
However, just as things seemed to be looking up, Tabea developed an autoimmune condition that caused her considerable pain. Yet, with the shelter’s unwavering support and appropriate medical treatment, including steroids, she fought through the pain and began to thrive once more.
Tabea Finds Her Forever Home
The pinnacle of Tabea’s journey came when she found her forever home. On December 21st, 2022, Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared the heartwarming news that Tabea had been adopted. Her new family showered her with all the love and care she had always deserved, and Tabea’s joy was unmistakable. She felt cherished and valued, finally experiencing the loving home she had always dreamed of.
