When the team at Hope For Paws in Los Angeles set out to rescue a stray dog, they stumbled upon another surprise—a tiny kitten under a car.
A Dual Rescue Operation
As they were en route to help a dog, the rescuers spotted a small kitten lying under a vehicle. Katie McKittrick quickly approached to check on the kitten. Fortunately, it was still breathing. She gently picked it up and brought it into their vehicle, then they resumed their mission to save the dog.
Near the dog’s location, a helpful mechanic kept the dog safe until the rescuers could take over. The dog was in rough shape, missing patches of fur and visibly malnourished, but quickly warmed up to the rescuers, sensing their intent to help.
Recovery and Care
Back at the shelter, both the dog, now named Templeton, and the kitten, named Fren, received the care they needed including a thorough bath. Unfortunately, Fren was suffering from a respiratory problem and required surgery to remove a nasopharyngeal polyp. After her surgery, Fren’s health improved significantly.
Finding New Homes
Templeton quickly found a new, loving home thanks to the efforts of The Animal Rescue Mission in Los Angeles. Fren, after a longer recovery at the shelter, was also ready to start a new chapter in a caring home, hoping to be someone’s “best girl.”
