Out of all the things that I will never understand, one thing in particular is how people can just abandon their pets in the middle of nowhere and leave them to starve. It’s heart-wrenching to think about the fate of these poor animals, left to fend for themselves without any food, water, or shelter.
If someone doesn’t want their dog, why not call into a shelter and surrender them there so they can have a chance to find somebody who will actually love them? It’s that simple. Shelters are there for a reason – to help animals in need and give them a chance at a better life.
However, the world is complicated, and things people do won’t always make sense. For this poor dog and her puppy, things were looking horrible. Abandoned in front of an apartment building during the night, they were left to survive on their own. Luckily for them, somebody noticed their misfortune and decided to help.
Shivering in the Cold

When a group of rescuers received a text about the small dog family, it was thanks to two kind girls who felt bad and decided to do something about it. They couldn’t bear to see the mama dog and her puppy suffering in the cold. They took it upon themselves to watch over the dogs until the rescuers could come and take them to safety.
Upon arriving, the rescuers found the mama dog shivering uncontrollably. She was so cold and scared. Without hesitation, they put the dogs in a car and drove them immediately to the shelter, where they received the necessary help.
At the shelter, the vets examined the puppy and determined that she was about three months old and severely malnourished. Because her test results were not great, she had to be separated from her mom for a while for treatment. During this time, the rescuers decided to name the dogs. The mama dog was called Grunya, and the puppy was named Nyusha.
A Tough Battle

This sweet family had been starved for so long that they could not eat their food properly. On top of that, Grunya, the mom, also had gynecological diseases due to not being bathed or cared for.
One big problem with feeding Nyusha was that she would often vomit the food she ate, despite the fact that it was very soft and designed not to make her sick. To prevent dehydration, the vets attached a feeding tube to her and became more careful with her mealtime.
Nyusha was very weak and could not move at all. It took several more days of intense treatment before this started to change slowly. Her metabolic problems caused a huge lack of appetite, making it even harder for her to recover. Despite these challenges, the vets continued with incredible determination.
A Glimmer of Hope

It was amazing to see just how much effort the vets and rescuers were putting into helping this dog family. A week later, things were starting to look up. Nyusha began to wag her tail and her health had improved quite a bit. Her strength was returning, and she was now even more determined to push on.
Nyusha was now able to stand and move around a little bit. This was a huge step forward, and her veterinarians couldn’t have been more proud. All of her health problems were slowly disappearing, and her mental state had improved a lot. Her mom, Grunya, also recovered and the two were finally reunited.

Seeing Grunya with her baby again was a beautiful sight. The bond between them was clear, and they were both overjoyed to be back together. As good news kept coming, the best news was that both the mom and the puppy would be adopted together.
The two were inseparable, so it only made sense that they would stay together in their new home. Despite all the hardships they went through, they made it through, thanks to the help of some truly remarkable people.
