Milo, a lively dog, was out for his routine walk in the park with his owner when a splash of pink in the grass caught his attention. On closer inspection, Milo discovered it wasn’t just a random object, but a wounded Galah bird. Instead, he ventured to the bottom of the cage to sit beside Milo, who would often lick him through the bars, further cementing their budding friendship.

This closeness saw them sharing Milo’s large dog bed, where Cracker would sometimes invade Milo’s personal space, causing Milo to move to another bed — only for Cracker to follow him there too.

However, the story took a bittersweet turn one morning when Cracker unexpectedly flew away. The family was torn. While they were happy that Cracker felt free enough to fly, saying goodbye was unexpectedly hard. They missed the joyous bird who had become a part of their family. Fortune smiled on them two weeks later when a Facebook post appeared about a Galah bird found a couple of suburbs away. Clinging to hope, the family drove to see if it was Cracker. They decided to put him in his old cage to see if he would behave as he did when he was with Milo. And sure enough, as soon as Cracker was placed inside, he climbed down and began playing with Milo as if they had never been apart.
