On the other end of the line was a woman named Angie Bray, who claimed to have found a dog registered to Betsy’s phone number via its microchip at Lee County Domestic Animal Services.
Initially skeptical, Betsy wondered if it was some scam—coincidences like talking about Harley and then receiving such a call seemed too good to be true. However, her doubts were dispelled when she received a photo of the dog. Despite the years and the changes they brought, Betsy recognized Harley.
A Heartwarming Reunion
Betsy didn’t hesitate. She packed her bags and set off on the 600-mile journey from Missouri, where her family had since relocated, back to Florida. The anticipation and emotions were overwhelming as she made her way to the shelter.
Upon arriving, the reunion was nothing short of miraculous. A shelter volunteer led a malnourished Harley, still on a chain, out of a nearby room. Upon seeing Betsy, Harley’s demeanor transformed instantly—he began wagging his tail uncontrollably and leapt into her arms, covering her with kisses.
The scene was emotionally charged, bringing tears to the eyes of everyone present, especially Betsy, who, overwhelmed with emotion, could only whisper through her tears as she embraced Harley, “I know, we are going home.”
