Today’s story is about a blind dog named Teasel, who felt let down by the family she trusted unconditionally. Her heartless owners abandoned her by the roadside without a care for what would happen to her next. Teasel, confused and terrified, curled up on the side of the road. Her heart held on to a sliver of hope that she would hear the familiar voices of her owners calling her name again.
Heroes Come to Save Teasel
When Laura Myatt, a rescuer at Sadie Dog Rescue, received a video and images of a blind dog abandoned by the roadside, she knew she had to help. Laura found Teasel lying under a bush, looking forlorn and abandoned. The sight of Teasel, so scared and confused, broke Laura’s heart. Teasel kept her head down, her expression full of sorrow and bewilderment.

Thankfully, a kind-hearted man had been feeding Teasel for days. According to him, the loyal dog stayed in the same spot, even when it rained, hoping her owners would return for her. When Laura approached Teasel and gently petted her head, the dog shied away, leading Laura to wonder if Teasel had ever known love from her previous owners.
Laura gently secured Teasel with a leash and took her to Sadie Dog Rescue, determined to give her a better life.

The rescue staff welcomed Teasel with open arms, doing their best to comfort her and provide the love she so desperately needed. They removed ticks from her fur and prepared a comfortable place for her to relax. Though Teasel was gentle, she remained frightened and did not seek out human touch. Laura felt a pang of sadness seeing the dejection in Teasel’s eyes, hoping that time would help her begin to trust again.
“I’m heartbroken for her. I just pray we can enable her to enjoy the rest of her life,” Laura wrote in a Facebook post. “She’s safe and loved, but she deserves the world.”

Teasel’s rescuers continued to pamper her with care and affection, eager to show her how beautiful life could be. Two weeks after her rescue, Teasel began to wag her tail whenever she heard Laura’s voice, a small but significant sign of progress.
The team took Teasel to the vet for a medical checkup. Unfortunately, the vet revealed that Teasel possibly had a metastatic mammary tumor. Further testing was needed to determine the full extent of her condition. Despite the grim news, Teasel started to come out of her shell after about a month. She began to warm up to Laura and the other humans, soaking up their cuddles and affection.
Laura shared updates on Facebook, detailing Teasel’s visits to an eye specialist. Sadly, the specialist confirmed that Teasel’s vision couldn’t be restored. Additionally, due to glaucoma, Teasel would need to have her left eye removed. Despite these challenges, Teasel adjusted remarkably well.
Finding a Home Filled with Love
Teasel’s story took a wonderful turn when a compassionate woman fell in love with her and decided to adopt her. This new forever mom promised to be by Teasel’s side and care for her as she recovered from her surgery. Before leaving for her new home, Teasel said goodbye to the rescuers who had been there for her during her darkest times. The rescuers were overjoyed to see Teasel find her happily-ever-after, knowing she would finally receive the love she deserved.
