Puppies are not just pets; they’re loyal companions with a lot to offer, especially to children. Witnessing the bond between a child and their puppy is witnessing a bond for life.
In California, Natasha and Craig saw this first hand with their daughter Ruby and her Bernese Mountain Dogs, Biggie and Lucy. Ruby and her canine siblings share an inseparable bond, filled with love and mutual admiration.
A Childhood Among Giants
From the moment Ruby was born, she had the company of her furry friends. Her parents, being dog lovers, wanted to ensure their children experienced the same joy they did growing up with dogs. Natasha expressed to The Dodo that having their children grow up with dogs was deeply important to them, a sentiment Ruby lived every day.
Ruby quickly became the apple of Biggie’s and Lucy’s eyes. The dogs embraced her as their little sister instantly, showering her with affection and protection.
A Growing Family
The arrival of Ruby’s little brother Sonny only added more happiness to the household. With Sonny taking his first steps, the family adventures grew, including everyone in small expeditions around their home.
Craig fondly recalls seeing the children and dogs embarking on mini-adventures, exploring the world together. Whether camping in the backyard or just playing around the house, Ruby, Sonny, Biggie, and Lucy were inseparable.
Boundless Adventures and Loving Bonds
Camping became a family tradition, where even though Biggie and Lucy weren’t much for fetching or running, they excelled in one crucial area: loving their family unconditionally. Ruby, even at her young age, took on the role of caretaker, ensuring her giant friends were well-fed and hydrated.
Sonny idolized his big sister, following her every step and learning the ropes of pet care from her.
Heartfelt Goodbyes and New Beginnings
The family faced heartbreak with the passing of Lucy, and later, Biggie. Each loss deeply affected them, yet they found solace in knowing that both dogs had lived wonderfully happy lives. The family then welcomed a new Bernese Mountain Dog, Bula, who quickly became a cherished member of their family.
Continuing the Legacy
The memories of Biggie and Lucy live on in the family’s hearts, and with Bula’s presence, the family continues to make new memories. Natasha and Craig believe that time will heal their wounds, and they look forward to more adventures with their children and their dogs.
Ruby and Sonny continue to thrive in an environment filled with love, learning, and the companionship of their beloved dogs, ready to make wonderful memories for a lifetime.
