Dogs are incredibly attached to their human families. It’s not just about the love, attention, and petting they receive, but also the basic needs their human parents provide for them, much like caring for a baby. When a dog is suddenly separated from its owner, it can encounter all sorts of problems because it’s simply not used to living and managing on its own.

These problems can sometimes be quite unusual. For instance, a dog might eat something that makes its behavior strange, grow so much fur that it looks like a sheep, or even get its head stuck in a jug.

A Life-Saving Rescue from the Jug

One summer day, Stacy DeSantis from Thelma and Louise Dog Rescue received a call about a dog wandering around with a jug stuck on his head. This American Staffordshire Terrier was spotted around Jennings, Florida. Stacy and her colleague, Maria, didn’t waste a moment before jumping into action.

They set several traps in the area where the dog had been seen recently, with some help from local residents. Despite their efforts, it took three full days to locate and reach the dog.

One morning, they received a call from a man who said the dog was inside his doghouse. Maria and Stacy, along with Stacy’s husband, Nick DeSantis, rushed to the location and immediately surrounded the doghouse. They managed to get the dog out using a leash, and Nick snipped the jug off with special scissors he had brought.

This poor dog’s head had been stuck in the plastic jug for almost nine days. He had been starving all that time, and if the rescue team hadn’t intervened, he probably would have died soon. Despite everything, the brave dog was relatively calm and seemed ready to be helped.

However, it was evident that he was very scared. Maria and Stacy couldn’t help but tear up with joy as they hugged the dog. Maria gently petted his head and said, “You’ve got a new life now.”

A Frisky Dog Full of Love and Joy

The dog, whom they named Jughead, was surprisingly cooperative. It was easy to take him to the vet. He tested positive for heartworm, so he had to receive vaccinations and undergo complete heartworm treatment.

Maria initially took care of Jughead at her home. Everything was fine while she was there, but as soon as she left for work, Jughead would get anxious and make a mess. Although Maria was frustrated at first, she quickly realized that Jughead had separation anxiety.

They discovered that Jughead had an owner who had been placed in a nursing home, leaving Jughead on his own. Knowing this, they decided it would be better for Jughead to stay with Stacy, where there were more rescued dogs. This turned out to be a great decision because Jughead quickly fit in and found a group of canine friends to play with.

Jughead loved being in the company of other dogs and was particularly fond of eating. He was so obsessed with food that the scene where he tried to get food from a box explained how his head originally ended up in a jug.

Despite all his mischievous behavior, Jughead was a pure joy on four legs. However, he still needed a permanent home where he could fully express his joy and cheerfulness.

Finding His Forever Home

After two months, it was time for Jughead to find a permanent home. Although Stacy posted an adoption ad for Jughead on social media, she felt a deep connection to him. She couldn’t bring herself to say goodbye to the dog who had brought her so much joy when she rescued him in Jennings.

After discussing it with her husband, Nick, Stacy decided that Jughead, affectionately called Juggie Wuggie, would become a full-fledged member of their family.

Even though Jughead hadn’t completely learned his lesson from the past—he still stuck his head in everything, especially when trying to get food—he now had a family who loved him and would always be there to help him out of any trouble he got into.

In the end, after all he had been through, Jughead found the happiest possible ending. He had a new loving family who cherished him, and he brought immense joy to their lives as well.
